Baby Boy Milestone 1-Month Celebration With A Star Wars Photoshoot

Baby yoda photoshoot done by infant for baby boy milestone picture ideas

I never thought I would plan baby boy milestone pictures, but I did when my nephew, Hudson, was born. Documenting a baby’s first year through milestone photos is a beautiful way to capture their growth and create lasting memories. My sister, Sarah of SarahLovesSparkles, celebrated each month of his first year with a different Disney character theme. For his 1-month milestone, we chose an iconic character from the Star Wars universe: Yoda. Being his aunt, I had the pleasure of setting up a Star Wars-themed scene that was fun and easy to create. Here’s how we did it, and how you can too!

Baby Boy Milestone – Creating a Star Wars Adventure through Pictures

Firstly, Star Wars perfectly connects to a creative and adorable baby photoshoot. I know it sounds unique, but there are a lot of innovative ways to incorporate Star Wars into a baby’s life. That was actually important to Sarah’s husband, Jim, who has been a big fan of the universe. Our goal was to bring a galaxy far, far away into our home, making the setup for the baby boy milestone simple.

The one thing that was so funny about Hudson’s one-month pictures was when I planned the shoot, I had no clue what a baby did. I didn’t know he wouldn’t be able to go on his tummy or hold himself up. Hudson was actually the first baby I had even been around. So, if I were to take the pictures today, I would do them very differently. I went into my niece’s photoshoots with the idea of how babies grow in mind. That is why, for her, we started with Sleeping Beauty; because she would be on her back and most likely sleeping.

The Adorable Baby Yoda Outfit

Sarah found an irresistibly cute Yoda outfit on Amazon. The soft outfit with a little ear hat paid tribute to the beloved character while staying cute for little Hudson. This outfit was adorable and comfortable, ensuring the baby stayed happy throughout the shoot. It even came with a mini lightsaber as soft and squishy as the rest of his outfit.

Custom Backdrop and Flooring for Baby Boy Milestone

I crafted a custom backdrop and flooring to make the photoshoot truly special. That was the part I did before Hudson was born and before I knew the first thing about babies. I also crafted and painted a 3D tree out of old paper. The backdrop featured a blown-up screenshot from the movie I printed and pasted on a poster board. I specifically made the picture blurry to create depth in the shots. Also, I made the floor of poster boars mimicking the mossy river terrain of an area where Luke Skywalker met Yoda for the first time. These elements set the perfect stage for little Baby Yoda.

How We Did It: Simple and Fun Steps

Creating this Star Wars-themed photoshoot for baby boy milestone pictures was both enjoyable and straightforward. Here’s how we brought it all together:

  1. Set Up the Backdrop: First, stand up the backdrop in your chosen area. Make sure it’s secure and in good lighting.
  2. Prepare the Flooring: In addition, lay down the moss flooring where the backdrop meets the floor. Set up the comfy scene for the baby on top of the created flooring.
  3. Arrange the Props: Next, place any additional props on the scene once you know where the baby will lie. Be creative with the arrangement to enhance the scene.
  4. Dress the Baby: Then dress your baby in their Yoda outfit. Ensure it fits well and is comfortable.
  5. Comfort is Key: Also, make sure the baby is well-fed and rested. Use the blankets to keep them cozy.
  6. Capture the Magic: Finally, Use natural light if possible and take photos from various angles to get a variety of adorable shots.
