Baby milestones 1 month photos make some of the best memories down the road. As an aunt, there’s nothing more heartwarming than watching your niece or nephew reach their first milestones. My sister, SarahLovesSparkles, and I enjoy setting up photoshoots to mark the special occasion. Firstly, to bring the magical essence to my niece’s birth, we decided to focus on a Disney princess theme. We celebrated her 1-month milestone with a fairy-tale-inspired photoshoot based on Sleeping Beauty. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at how we brought this enchanting theme to life and some advice on recreating a similar photoshoot.
Creating a Dreamy Sleeping Beauty Setting for Baby Milestones 1 Month Photos
In addition to the special milestone, Sarah wanted to capture her daughter’s first month with a nod to Sleeping Beauty and with no creative limits. So, I was thrilled to help bring this vision to life. The goal was to create a scene as dreamy and magical as the classic fairy tale itself. We used unique items. We had to bring the vision to life, but we also brought DIY elements to the scene. In conclusion, the outcome was exactly the memory Sarah hoped to create.
The Custom Outfit
I had the pleasure of designing and creating a custom Sleeping Beauty-inspired outfit for the baby. The outfit featured a delicate lace diaper cover and an off-shoulder pink gown reminiscent of Princess Aurora’s iconic gown. Additionally, I added a tiny crown to complete the look, making her look like she was sleeping in a storybook.
I am known to make custom costumes and adore making gowns from scratch. All of my designs are hand-made and designed by me in-house, and I am thrilled to continue designing for my niece as I have my nephew.
This is the first outfit I ever made for my niece, and I can tell that it is already the start of many more. Little clothes like this are so fast to make compared to the larger gowns and costumes I’ve made for me and my sister. Some projects have taken me days or even months to complete. But this outfit for my niece was a day-long project, and it turned out to be one of those ones I really enjoyed making.
I will also make some of her dresses for her next milestones and hope to make her a full wardrobe of all the Disney princesses eventually and at every age if she seems to like it when she gets older!

Capturing the Magic: Tips for a Perfect Photo
I always like to remind our friends here that neither my sister nor I are a professional photographer. We took all these shots using our cell phones. That is important because no matter how beautiful they turned out, anyone can recreate the idea.
Also, to capture the essence of Sleeping Beauty, it’s all about the details. Here are some tips that helped us get those perfect shots:
- Choose the Right Time: Schedule your photoshoot when your baby is calm and well-fed. Mornings after a long rest, feeding, or after naps usually work best for us.
- Set the Scene: Use a lot of props and decorations to create a storybook setting. Pay attention to lighting and angles. Lighting is the number one factor in the way your photos turn out.
- Be Patient and Gentle: Handle your baby with care and patience. Take breaks if needed, and make sure the environment is comfortable for them. In addition, the baby’s comfort and happiness should be the top priority.
- Have Fun: Enjoy the process! The best photos often come when everyone is having a good time.
